Jamaya in Solihull’s Touchwood shopping centre is my personal go to place to eat after shopping in the town centre on a weekend. This time around a friend and I visited during the weekend where we were looked after by Saskia (with the cool hairstyle). We ordered the Jamaya experience (and was impressed with the portion size) and the Plantain and Avocado salad as a side. Saskia was attentive and prompt with her delivery and engaged in pleasant conversation with us, which made for a great lunch experience. Let it be noted that this is a genuine black owned business (the owner is a Jamaican man who named this restaurant and the sister restaurant after his daughter) with a diverse range of staff of all colours and cultures. This restaurant will continue to get my full support.
Lovely evening at Jamaya in Solihull… Food was excellent, lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and excellent service by Saskia, who was friendly, very helpful, attentive and patient as we were deciding. Wonderful service provided by Saskia who looked after me, husband, Son & partner very well, recommending and suggesting things to try… would definitely return… thank you
So l decided to try Jamaya for the first time. 1/2 chicken leg - perfectly cooked chicken, moist and flavoursome. However just wasn't spicy enough. Chicken wings - good size, moist and flavoursome. Once again not spicy enough. Fried tenders - these were my favourite amazing taste and great flavour. Rice and peas - personally not for me bit on the dry side. Packaged well and food was hot enough. Well worth trying.
Incredibly good value £13.50 lunch deal. Tasty grilled jerk chicken and fragrant rice and peas. Friendly service by Shaunah, would definitely come back when in the area
I paid £15 for chicken, rice & peas, and sweet potato fries, bringing my total to £22. What I received was extremely disappointing, just five small strips of chicken breast that were overly salty, along with a very small scoop of rice (the small spoon in the photo is for reference). If you don’t have enough food to provide a proper portion, you shouldn’t be accepting orders. This portion size is completely unacceptable. Update: I emailed them after the reply back last Wednesday 22nd and I’ve not had a reply back.🙃
