😕 First Impressions
Even before I walked in, I wasn't feeling very optimistic. Based on the location, I had a feeling this restaurant would be catering more towards the English palate rather than authentic Indian/Pakistani flavours. As a Pakistani who's grown up eating and cooking Indian/Pakistani food, I know what a proper curry should taste and look like.
🍢 Starter – Tikka Platter for 2 (£11.95)
The disappointment started with the mixed tikka platter. Straight away I could tell that almost everything had been loaded with food colouring – even the seekh kebab! The kebab itself was dry, tasteless and lacked any real flavour. The only way I managed to eat it was by dipping it into the leftover sauce from the poppadoms.
🍛 Main Course – Garlic Lamb Karahi
When it arrived, I was genuinely shocked. There were only five small pieces of lamb, while the rest of the dish was filled with tomatoes and onions. The sauce tasted like plain tinned tomatoes with virtually no seasoning. There was no depth of flavour, no spice, no heat and none of the rich taste you'd expect from a proper Karahi. 🤦♂️Even in the pictures, you can see the tinned tomatoes.
I spoke to the manager, Abdul, and pointed out how little lamb was in the dish. To his credit, he did ask the kitchen to add more meat, but by that point the taste had already put us off. Sadly, adding more lamb couldn't fix the lack of flavour.
🫓 Naan Bread
The garlic naan was actually lovely, fresh and probably the best thing we ate all evening. 👍
Unfortunately, my partner's Peshwari naan was undercooked and had very little filling or nuts inside. Even my partner, who usually enjoys milder curries, was disappointed with both his curry and the naan.
🚨 The Biggest Issue – Customer Privacy
The most shocking part of the evening wasn't actually the food.
The manager, Abdul, was taking telephone orders on loudspeaker while we were sat only a few feet away. We could clearly hear every conversation.
What completely stunned me was when a customer paid over the phone and started reading out their full bank card details. 😳 Anyone sitting nearby could easily have recorded the conversation and stolen those details. In this day and age, that's an incredibly serious breach of customer privacy and security.
👎 Overall
This was honestly one of the most disappointing curry house experiences I've had. Bland food, poor portions, disappointing quality and a shocking lack of customer privacy.
I appreciate that the manager tried to rectify the amount of lamb in the curry, but unfortunately the food itself was beyond saving.
Sadly, I won't be returning and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Indian or Bangladeshi cuisine.

Excellent food overseen by a photo of Karen Brady watching me from the wall, and a selection of fish watching from the tank behind me.
Quiet on a Thursday evening in half term (myself and a table of 4), which was very pleasant as well.
I only make it up here once a year but shall put this on the list to return to at some point definitely!

A very nice Indian Restaurant. Perfectly cooked curries. The Chicken Pakoras are wonderful for the starter. The Lamb Pathia had a beautiful colour and tasted wonderful. The Garlic Naan bread was also soft and puffy in the middle, with crispiness on the edges, it was how a Naan bread should be.
Staff are welcoming, friendly and good to talk to, a very quick service as well. You are not left alone for too long as you are waiting to order or pay for the bill.
The only recommendation I would have for the place would be to install air con or have some more ceiling fans as it was very humid/muggy inside the restaurant when it was only 23c outside. Other than that, perfect place to have a meal.

Attentive staff, very friendly. Starters, balti and naan were all very well cooked and tasty. House red wine excellent. Can’t wait to go again !
