Pizza Express hosted us for our Christmas meal! They truly were the best. Food: amazing, Staff: attentive and accommodating, service: speedy and efficient! We were put in the corner so we could play our party games and be a bit loudish without disturbing others! One of the best, if not the best, Christmas meal we've had in a long while! Thanks again team
Went to the Solihull touchwood pizza express on a snowy Friday for lunch. We were grateful that it was open as quite a lot of shops and restaurants were closed, I suppose due to lack of staff able to get in. When we entered there were a few cystomers already there. We chose a window seat and i dont know if it was the snowy scene outside or the in the restaurant but it took a while before i took my coat off. Having been here on numerous occasions I can say the it's not the warmest of places. We were warmly greeted and seated and given menus to peruse. I must say at this point that there was only 1 waitress and 1 chef. The waitress came back and took our drinks order of a bottle of gavi and olives. We didn't really notice any delay in those coming but the waitress did apologise for any delay in their arrival. We chose classic pizzas and gave our substraction/additions to our chosen pizza, ie I had a la riene no olives. As usual weird does not phase them or their chefs. As they were short staffed the chef came out with our pizzas which was a nice surprise and he was very friendly; when asked he bought the black pepper grinder. The pizzas were lovely and tasty and soon yummed up by both. We were bought the desert menu just as more customers managed to get through the snow for lunch. As it was his birthday we had decided to go onto a bar so had no desert or coffee, however slipping and sliding around out there I wish we had stayed. Well done to the chef and waitress for getting in. With just 2 of them there and customers in it wasn't surprising to see some tables not entirely cleared but they did a marvelous job of serving us and cooking lovely food. Give yourselves a pat on the back guys.
I visited the restaurant with my wife and young son before going to see Toy Story 5. We were warmly welcomed by the manager, Vickie. The first thing I noticed was the fantastic World Cup decorations, and even our table had a flag on it. My son amusingly commented, "I didn't know Ireland was in the World Cup!" The service was outstanding, and, as on our previous visits, the food was served hot and was very tasty. Although the restaurant was quite busy, it was clear that Vickie and her team were working hard to ensure everyone had a great experience. If you're looking for somewhere to enjoy a delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere, Pizza Express Solihull is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended!
I was disappointed with my experience at Pizza Express today. As we were entering the restaurant, my toddler accidentally banged her head and was very upset and crying. Because she was hungry and needed calming down, we had bought some chips from another restaurant for her to eat. We were seated and she was sitting quietly in her high chair eating them while we prepared to order our meal from Pizza Express. The manager approached us from across the restaurant and, without any greeting or friendly introduction, immediately told us that food from other restaurants was not allowed. I completely understand that businesses have policies regarding outside food, and my issue is not with the rule itself. My concern is with the way the situation was handled. The interaction felt abrupt and unfriendly, especially given that we were clearly dealing with an upset toddler. When I asked whether Pizza Express served chips, I was told they did not. The staff member then simply walked away without offering any alternative, solution, or further explanation. We have visited before and have had food for our child with us without anyone raising any concerns, so the way this was addressed felt inconsistent. After the interaction, we noticed the staff member speaking with a colleague and looking over at us repeatedly, which left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome for the remainder of our visit. Good customer service isn’t just about enforcing policies; it’s about how those policies are communicated. A little understanding, empathy, and professionalism would have made a significant difference to our experience.
I went to pizza express today as part of a large group of people. The staff were lovely, accommodating us amazingly and making us feel very welcome. Paris and Johnny just made our day, making our experience here, at pizza express a great one. The food was absolutely delicious and every order was correct and the food arrived quickly. Thanks again to Paris and Johnny for truly making us feel welcome, I will definitely return here!
