The Lake at Barston Restaurant is located at the West Midlands Golf Club in Solihull, and is open to the general public. All tables have a view of the 21 acre Barston Lake and we are open all day everyday (shorter hours in the winter).
We serve an English Pub & Grill menu with Burgers, Fish, Breakfast & light options, along with Steaks & Grills. The menu served is the same in the informal Bar & Lounge area, or outside on the lawns, where to comply with social distancing rules we have an app (look in the App store for Elite Live) where you can order and pay contactless, and we will deliver your food to you. In the Restaurant we still have traditional waiter service to your table.
Love this place. We go for a fishing day out quite regularly... I don't fish, hubby and son do 😀 Staff are very friendly and service is excellent. We've not tried the food yet but it looks and smells amazing. Beautiful setting, very relaxing. If you're local I highly recommend popping in.
Last night, was our first visit to this venue and we attended an Abba tribute night. The setting is fabulous and we had a lovely view across the lake from our table. Staff were very welcoming, professional and efficient throughout the evening. We all enjoyed our meals. The service staff were very pleasant, portion sizes were good and the food was served piping hot. We'd taken a birthday cake with us and staff kindly got extra tea plates and cutlery for this. The bar service was very good (didn't have to wait long to be served) and prices reasonable. Abbariginals were very entertaining, the on-stage banter very funny and they boosted what was already a really good atmosphere, up another notch. The celebration parties in the room were acknowledged and dance floor was full all night. We had a wonderful evening and will certainly go back again.
Booking online was great, good system with follow up emails and links to order our food. Once in the show venue, the bar was crowded on arrival. Nice welcome from the lady at reception. Bar service was ok. The music being played was ok but where i sat the sound was barely audible. Food was so so, pub grub done ok but mostly was pre prepped and pre sliced meat, auntie bessie style roast potatoes and sprouts were old school, underdone. My prawn cocktail was a pool of sauce 4 leaves and a few prawns on a plate, disappointing. The puds were ok. Then the band. Sound quality was poor, couldnt hear what he was singing half the time but he sang some good stuff from 70s and 80s. So, would i come back.....Big Fat YES. The place was buzzin, people were enjoying themselves and we had a great time. Overall we had a great night out and i would prefer to pay more and get good fresh food prelared by chefs but for what i paid, i say we will definitely return and soon
I was blown away by this stunning place, we all were as a group of 5. Me as the vegan though did not have a great time with the food, I appreciate you have a few vegan items now which is so great! But my burger was really really shockingly tiny, not even the size of my palm and then my brothers big meaty burger was genuinely the size of his head 😂 ill upload photos if possible. My burger was served to me with a bun and very underwhelming patty, not the beyond meat ones, the weird fried mushy ones, which I haven't been unfortunate enough to be served for a very long time. On the menu it says the vegan burger is served with cheese lettuce and a tomato which I did not get. I understand your staff probably dont come across many vegans but we would really appreciate if you could put as much effort into ours as you do the normal ones, mostly because I had SUCH high hopes for this place after seeing how gorgeous it is, I brought my family here and want it to be our local. Really hope for the future you can provide a better patty and sized bun! I paid the same price as my brother but had way under half of the portion he got. And unfortunately this really did ruin the experience for me I wasn't even going to leave this review but if there's any hopes for better vegan food here I can promise you you'll have many more people coming here as were always looking for a nice spot to come to. I have a pretty big vegan family lol and also stumbled across some vegan/veggie reviews Thank you
Lovely lunch booked for my Mom last Saturday. We took a birthday cake which was looked after my the staff until we needed it. Mel and Josie served us and they couldn't have been more brilliant. Lovely ladies who couldn't have helped more, very friendly and chatty. Loved it here and the view of the lake is stunning. Definitely be back!!
